Crystal Beaded Flower Necklace DIY JEWELRY
It’s been really cold this past weekend and with February almost over, I’m ready to move on to spring! I just cannot wait until spring comes, and with that, some beautiful floral colors. I really love spring flowers. They bring a certain joy every year when I see them bloom after a long, cold winter. Since it seems like it will still be more than a few weeks away, I decided to make a beaded flower necklace to impart some spring into my wardrobe inspired by some beautiful flowers.
Supplies needed to make your own beaded flower necklace:
- Venezia Crystal Teardrop Beads
- Toho Gold Seed Beads
- Swarovski Crystal Filigree Balls
- Assorted Gold Spacer Beads
- Darice 24 Gauge Gold Plated Wire
- Jewelry Wire cutter
- Long Nose Jewelry Pliers
- Round Nose Jewelry Pliers
- Darice Twisted Satin Necklace Cord
- Gold Plated Jump Rings
Step One. To begin your beaded slower necklace, cut off a length of wire and thread one teardrop crystal and one seed bead on it. Take one end of the wire (the seed bead side) and insert it back to the bottom of the teardrop crystal, pull until tight, locking the seed bead in place. I recommend using some flat nose pliers to help with this step so you get a really tight hold on the wire. Pull the two wires opposite ways to secure the teardrop crystal.
Step Two. Thread another set of the beads on each side. Repeat the above step by taking the end of the wire and threading it back into the teardrop crystal to secure the seed beads.
Step Three. Continue threading beads until you reach your desired size. I based my size on the round beads I had for the middle and came up with 5 beads on each ‘flower’. Caution: Too much wire-pulling will break your wire.
Step Four. Form into half a flower. This will help the next step become easier.
Step Five. Attach your round center by threading one end of the wire one way, and another the other way, pulling the wire until tight and locking the beads and the crystal center in place. Using two flat-nose pliers will make this step much easier.
Step Six. Cut off the excess wire, and using your round nose pliers, loop until the wires are tucked behind the top-most teardrop crystals on the back of your ‘flower’ pendant.
Step Seven. Repeat Steps 1-6, two more times for your side flowers. I used a different (smaller) center for the side flowers just to give the center a focal point.
Step Eight. Connect the edges of the flowers by connecting the end beads with a jump ring, making sure you are connecting the right sides together, as well as making sure the center flower is in the middle. The easiest way to do this would be to position the beads with their holes facing the same axis, and using your flat nose pliers to thread the jump ring and close it.
Step Nine. You will also want to add the jump ring on the outermost petal of the link – on each side, to provide a loop for your necklace to attach to.
Step Ten. Attach your necklace chain and your beaded flower necklace is complete!
This fun beaded flower necklace is very relaxing to make and it really makes such an impact! I just loved the amber color on mine, but you’re welcome to try yours in different colors.
